Day 12

Day 12- What you believe.

Something that I strongly believe in and I will be teaching to my children one day is to "treat others how you want to be treated".

Anytime I am in a situation (whether it is good or bad), I keep in mind how would I want to be treated in this situation. All it takes is a few minutes to think about what you are going to say or how you are going to react before opening your mouth.

Other things that go with this belief is to never judge others that you don't know, think before you speak, and never assume anything.

I think we would have a better world if we all had this belief.

Day 11

Day 11- Favorite TV shows

This is one blog that I can have a lot of different examples of. Ask my husband and our fights over who gets to DVR what! One reason that I enjoy certain TV shows is that it is one way for me to relax. After a long day at work, I enjoy coming home and not having to think about anything. I put on one of my favorite TV shows and that is my ultimate relaxation for the evening.

As you will see, most of my favorite TV shows are reality TV shows. One thing I enjoy and have an unlimited interest in is wedding shows. Seeing people happy and in love brings me excitement.

Not in any particular order, some of my favorite TV shows are:

The Bachelor/ The Bachelorette
Four Weddings
Say Yes to the Dress
The Real World
Jersey Shore
Bethany Ever After
Sex and the City
Modern Family
Cops
48 Hours of Hard Evidence

Day 10

Day 10- Biggest fear

I have very few fears in life. Bugs and rats are gross looking but I don't have a fear of them. I think heights are fun- the higher the better! Doctor's, needles, hospitals don't scare me at all. Two little things make very update and I am so afraid of these things.
1. The Dentist
2. Elevators

I HATE the dentist. I can barely drive by my dentist's office on a daily basis without getting anxious. Drills, dentist chairs, and tooth aches are my biggest and worst fear. I get so anxious and can barely breathe when I know i have to go to the dentist.

Close following are elevators. I am always worried that I am going to get stuck in them. The phone will be out and I will be stuck in there for hours and I won't be able to breathe. What makes elevators even worse is when you have to go in the elevator and it is jammed packed with people. I get claustraphobic and the sweats start to set in and I freak out.

So yes I will admit- I have fears of these 2 things. Bring on all the other stuff in life but keep me as far away from the dentist and elevators that you can!

Day 9

Day 9-Friends

When it comes to friends, I am one who thinks it is about the quality and not the quanity. I try to be the best friend that I can be to my girls. I will take the time out to comfort a friend, hang out, catch up, or be there to celebrate the exciting things in life.
A few of my longest friends include 2 girls that I have known for close to 10 years now. Jen and Becky. My life wouldn't be the same without these girls in my life. A picture of the 3 of us is below.

Another close friend in my life is Angie. She is a great person who I met at work years ago and we instantly clicked as friends. She is such a wonderful person.
A few of my other friends that I have met through the years that I have become close to  are the fiances/wives of my husband's friends, coworkers (Sheila, Marge, Judi, Vicki, Lana, Sue). My sister and sister-in-laws are my friends. I could go on for a long time. I am very cherished to know the amount of people I do and blessed to have them in my life.
To all my friends, thank you for being part of my life!

Day 8

Day 8- A place you have visited

I have never been much of a traveler. I will say one of my favorite trips was to Denver, Colarado. It was so quiet, relaxing, and absolutely gorgeous. I went on a spring break in college to visit my Aunt Barb, Uncle Dave, and cousins Rachel and Matt. I would love to go there again and bring Frank so he can see just how fabulous it is there.
On my bucket list. I HAVE to go to Italy. That is where I have been dying to go. It would be so great to go there and I will be going at some point in my life.

Day 7

Day 7- Favorite movies

The thing I think Frank hates the most is that I am not a big movie person. If I do watch a movie it is a romantic comedy or a girly movie. Some comedies I do enjoy.

The following are a few of the movies that I enjoy:
Sex and the City- I love this movie but the 1st movie

Tommy Boy- The one person in the world who shared the love of this movie with me is Kasie Hart in our KSU days.

Father of the Bride- This was one of my favorite movies ever since I was a teenager.

He's not that Into You- This is a great movie for every woman out there.

Now TV shows is much more my thing so that list will be much longer.

Day 6

Day 6- Something that makes you smile

I have an idea for this. Please check back because it will be added with the reason why it makes me smile the second I get my hands on it.

Update 3/21/11. I got it! These pictures make me very happy thinking about the best day of my life.

Day 5

Day 5- Your siblings

I am 1 of 5 Siftar children. I have 3 brothers and 1 sister.
  1. My older brother Brian is married to Monica (Mo). We see Brian and Mo more then we see any of my other family members since we live so close. They have 2 kids- Violet and Vincent and expecting a 3rd in July. I can't wait for the new baby to come and we are so excited for Brian and Mo! Brian is the most disciplined Siftar child and has made quite the living for himself and his family.
  2. My younger brother Kyle is married to Lisa. They are the traveling couple of our family. They are always moving to different places outside of the United States. I give Lisa all the credit in the world for putting up with Kyle and his daily antics! I wish we were able to see Kyle and Lisa more and we miss them through out the year. I am jealous of the fun and exciting life they live. Kyle is the goofiest of the Siftar children.
  3. My younger sister Christina is married to Sean. They live in Cincinnati, OH and (fingers crossed) trying to move their lives to San Fran California. My sister and I were always fighting over clothes and the bedroom growing up. Now that we are older we have grown our relationship even closer. Christina was always teased as being the "princess" of the family. Love ya Christina!!
  4. My youngest and the baby of the family is Dan. He is engaged to be married to Carrie on Sept 10, 2011 in Dayton, OH. Dan is a great kid and can't believe the man he has become. I was so happy when my parents had Dan because I got to play "mother" to him and help my mom take care of him. Dan is the baby of the Siftar family and had as much grief handed to him from the siblings as spoiling from the parents.
Here is a picture of the Siftar family minus the 2 upcoming additions of the new baby and Carrie.

Day 4

Day 4- Your parents

My parents are Kevin and Stacy Siftar. I look up to my parents because of their love, support, and relationship they have with each other. My parents put everything behind them for many years to raise 5 children. I think they were about 20-21 when started thinking about having a family. One thing that was always apparent with my parents is that they have shown me that marriage is never easy. You support your partner through the good and the bad.

My mom is the most caring person I have ever met. If it is making us our favorite dinner for our birthday, calling to check on us when we are sick, getting  excited for more and more grand kids, preparing the spread for all of the holiday dinners, and always loving us so much. My mom is the exact same person as my grandmother Violet. She has taken and kept every holiday tradition up in our family. The one thing my mom cherishes just like my grandmother is family. Nothing gets my mom more excited then our family growing more and more every holiday. My goal is to take after my mom with all of her love and continue the family traditions.

My Pops and I have a fun and teasing relationship. Whether it's the "wrench"of a hug he gives us when he greets us hello, his facebook posts, or his obsession with tomato plants every summer. My Pops would pick me up from college and move me home every summer. He would always tease that I had too much "junk" and try to throw it out.  I send my pops hearing aid information in the mail because he is deaf (or he has the best selective hearing)! I tease my pops that I am going to admit him to my nursing home so I can make sure he is behaving himself. My pops is always there to lend a helping hand and would do anything for any of his kids. The grand kids think Tata is the coolest and he always has chocolate milk for them!

I love my parents very much and I have learned so much about life from them. I have become the woman I am today because of my parents and I know they are always proud. Below is a picture of my mom and pops from my wedding.

Day 3

Day 3- Your first love

Love I feel is a term that is thrown around so much. I love candy, being outside, my TV shows, and so many other things in life. I love and care for many people in my life but I feel my love for my friends and family are different then the love I have for a certain person.  Love for a person means more to me now then it did when I was 6, 16, 26, etc.  Warning... this is going to be moushy so don't read further if you don't want to hear it.

My first love is for my husband Frank. I say it is my first love because it is the first time that I have been in love with someone that I can honestly say it is nothing but appreciated, returned, and never taken advantage of. My husband loves me the way I am, on my good days and bad days, always has my back on issues, and is never ever takes advantage of my kindness. To show Frank that he is my first love I make sure to tell him every morning that he is my one and only love. I would not be the woman I am today without the love I have for him, the love he has for me, and the wonderful marriage we have together. I would do anything in the world for him as he would for me. The best day of my life was our wedding day. Thank you Frank for being my first and only true love!

Day 2

Day 2 The meaning behind your blog name

When I first decided to start a blog my husband and I sat here thinking about what to call it. First, I went with my own idea on what the name should be. This was "Thoughts by Katy". Yes it was very me! Frank on the other hand thought it was boring.  His idea was to name the blog Catching up with Katy. Then as you all know me, I have to put my Katy stamp on it. It was my idea to spell catching wrong and put it in air quotes. Corny... I know but it's me! Around 'Katching' are the imaginary air quotes that I would do if you were sitting next to me!
